Louise Odier

Syn:  Louis Philippe d’Angers, Mme de Stella

 ARS Rating:  8.5

 Class:   Bourbon

 Date:  1851

 Breeder:  Margottin, France

Blooms:  Double.  Very double almost camellia-like blooms.  The round buds open into large, very double flowers in a warm pink.  They are cupped at first and then open into a round, flat flower.  The center petals are slightly ragged.  This is one of the most floriferous of roses and since the flowers are held on long stems, it is good for cutting.

Bloom Frequency:  Repeats.

Color:  Deep pink.  The center petals may have a lavender tint.

Fragrance:  Very Fragrant

 Thorns:  Has maroon prickles.

Approximate Height:  5’ x 4’.  Can be used as a small climber if left unpruned.

Description and Care:  Arching canes that are covered with soft, olive green leaves.  Growth is very vigorous.  Flowers are produced in clusters that can weigh down the branches and produce the arching effect.  Effective as a pillar rose.  The blooms are good as cut flowers and it repeats very reliably.  It can tolerate some shade.

Comments:  This rose is well adapted to warm climates but it does suffer from blackspot.
