Mme Ernest Calvat

Syn:

ARS Rating:  8.1

Class:   Bourbon

Date:  1888

Breeder:  Schwartz

Blooms:  Double.  Flowers pink shaded darker.

Bloom Frequency:  Repeats.

Color:  Medium pink, shaded darker.

Fragrance:  Very Fragrant.  When in bloom, it perfumes the entire yard.

Thorns:  Has dark prickles.

Approximate Height:  4’ x 4’ – in the South, it grows much taller and sprawls so it may be best grown with some kind of support.

(As can be seen in this picture, I have it growing near a ten foot post which can support it.)

Description and Care:  Growth is of medium vigor.  It tends to form a narrow, upright bush with abundant light green leaves.  The leaves are oval and pointed.

Comments:  This rose will survive with organic gardening methods, but needs good soil and has a tendency towards black spot like most in its class.  It is still worth growing though and has gorgeous, fragrant blooms.

Breeding:

Zones:  4-10
